Time's a Flyin'

Well, folks, the vacation is about over, but I can honestly say, I've enjoyed my time off and even tho I've only two days left, I'm determined to make the best of them! Yesterday I went to see a good friend of mine. She will be 84 on her birthday next month, but she has more spunk than most women half her age! She has a disease of her eyes called macular degeneration, which is slowing robbing her of her sight. She shared with me yesterday that she is going to have to move in with her daughter because she feels she can no longer live alone and be safe. This was sad news for me as we have been close friends for years and I felt her loss. However, I know she will be okay, as she is a strong woman and her daughter will take very good care of her.. She has a very nice little trailor, with a garage and a fenced in yard for her dog, has taken very good care of the property. It will make someone a very nice home, as her daughter owns it and is going to sell it.
I decided it would be a good idea to take her out for lunch to get her mind off of things for a bit, so we went to Coney Island for a "maidwrong" and split an order of onionrings. I took her home afterwards and visited a while longer. She has collected lighthouses for years and I had given her a picture several years ago. It's a rather large picture, so she won't have room for it at her daughter's , so she gave it to me to keep. She had taken down all her family pictures from one wall.. I realize how hard this must be for her. However, I'm so glad she is going to be with her daughter and not in a nursing home! She will be able to keep her dog and I know that means a lot to her. I tried to encourage her to see some of the benefits of the move and not to dwell on the negative.
Today, I'm going to just do whatever comes to mind. I don't have any particular plans except a doctors appointment this afternoon. Not something I'm really looking forward too, but gotta go. Jose is getting antsy as I'm taking too long with this post. It has been a challenge to post this as I tried last night and had it all done, then lost the whole thing when I tried to edit it! Talk about a bummer! It was too late to do over so here it is : mistakes and all!
